Along with continuing development of GIS in all fields, Railway Department has started to consider using GIS technology to improve its management and service. Railway is a national-range network, which refers to the spatial information of all sorts of railway device, including stations, railway station, bridges, tunnels, automobiles, information communication, signaling, electricity and water supplies. Base on the GIS technology, we organize all kinds of data and information, and set up a comprehensive geometric system this applies in emergency response, security inspection, transportation service, equipment maintenance, planning and designing, and decision-making, which can largely improve the level of scientific decision-making and efficiency of information usage.
